We all know at least one person who calls and tells us that his computer is not working. When asked what went wrong, he only tells us "an error occurred." It may not be his fault because, sometimes, Windows has problems communicating and fails to specify why the error occurred or it displays a string of numbers which makes no sense to most of us. Using Error Smart, this will not be a problem anymore. It can be used like any other scanning software and it will attempt to fix any found errors, speeding up your computer along the way.

Downloading and installing the software can be done swiftly. The setup file is only 1.85 Mb large and the installation wizard will not hinder you with additional tools, settings or anything of the sorts.

The program's functions can be found in different categories, accessible via buttons on the top part of the interface. The Home section is where you can start scanning. A series of check boxes make it possible to choose what areas to scan. These include system services, file associations, user settings, fonts, shared files and many more. To start scanning, just click the large, shiny button above this list. The process will not take long and if there are any errors, the software will find them and display the results in a list. The final step is to click the Fix button on the lower part of the window and Error Smart will start correcting them.

The software comes with additional utilities which can be accessed in the Utilities category. A browser object manager will help you remove any toolbars or other objects which attach themselves to your web browser when you install something on your computer. They will be detected automatically and all you have to do is select them and click a Remove button. You can also find a startup programs manager, which will let you stop any program from launching automatically on system startup. An Add/Remove program manager can be found as well. This works exactly as the standard manager found in MS Windows. Just select an entry from a list and click a button to start uninstalling a program.

Another task you can perform in Error Smart is backing up or restoring your Registry. The feature can also be found in the Utilities category and it only requires selecting one of the two actions and clicking a Next button. You can also restore your whole system using this software by going to the Backup category. A list of created backups will be displayed here, but there is no way to create one. You can only select one and click the Restore button beneath the list.

Pros

Error Smart will scan a lot of vital places on your system and if there are any errors, it will find them and attempt to correct them. It can all be done by performing a simple scan which will not take too long.

Cons

It is not possible to specify a certain folder to scan it. If you have trouble with a third party software, you have to scan the whole system. Another drawback involves the trial version: you can scan for errors, but it is not possible to start the fixing process. Errors that make no sense can be taken care of with Error Smart. With its straightforward interface, you will only need to perform a scan.
